A tragic shooting took place in Chicago at 117th Street and Normal Avenue, leaving a 16-year-old boy dead. Around 3:36 p.m.,
Police responded to calls of a person shot and found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center but was pronounced dead.
Police say a 27-year-old man reported he was walking when the 16-year-old approached him with a gun, attempting to rob him. The victim drew his own firearm in self-defense and shot the teen. The 27-year-old is now in custody for questioning as detectives continue to investigate. Officials are reviewing surveillance footage and witness accounts, and the Cook County medical examiner is expected to release an autopsy report. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
